ABOUT ME

Tia Murray, BS, CLC
Madison, WI
I am a local and professionally trained doula through DONA (Doulas of North America) International. I was born and raised in Madison, Wisconsin and always dreamed of giving back to my community. As a non-traditional student, and a single mother, I attended the University of Wisconsin- Madison, and received my Bachelors of Science degree in Community and Environmental Sociology. As a professional, I have passionately worked with women, children and families in multiple capacities. My work has focused heavily on social justice, and providing access to information and opportunities for success and empowerment. I have also trained as a Parent Child Home Program Coordinator, which allowed me to work within the early childhood development field and to serve children and families within Dane County.
Additionally, I am a mother of four wonderful children, and I have given birth in almost every setting possible. I have birthed in a hospital, a free standing birth center, and I have also had a planned homebirth. I strongly believe that this gave me a unique perspective on childbirth and infant and maternal care. As a professional Doula, I am continually involved in professional development, continuing education, and volunteer opportunities to improve maternal and child health outcomes in my community. I am also an aspiring Midwife, and I am currently in the process of promoting a Community Based Doula program to provide access to doula care for underserved women and minorities.
